This winter, Kortrijk becomes a meeting place for imagination, photography and collaboration with EMPLOOI; In dienst van de verbeelding. Over several December weekends, the city hosts a unique, free photo exhibition that invites visitors to slow down, look closely and rediscover the power of visual storytelling.
EMPLOOI is not a traditional exhibition confined to one space. Instead, it unfolds across multiple locations throughout Kortrijk, encouraging visitors to move through the city while engaging with a wide range of photographic works. Each location offers a different perspective, yet all are connected by a shared commitment to creativity and imagination.
The exhibition brings together photographers from various backgrounds, including local photo clubs, artistic collectives and educational institutions. The result is a diverse body of work that spans styles and themes, from experimental imagery and documentary photography to more poetic and abstract interpretations. Together, these works reflect how photography can serve the imagination, not just by capturing reality, but by transforming it.
At its core, EMPLOOI is a celebration of collaboration. The project was initiated by the Koninklijke Kortrijkse Fotoclub and grew through partnerships with other creative communities in and around Kortrijk. This collective approach is felt throughout the exhibition, where dialogue between artists, spaces and visitors takes center stage.
The exhibition is open on several days in December, primarily during weekends, and is free to visit. This makes EMPLOOI an accessible cultural experience for everyone, whether you are a photography enthusiast, an art lover or simply curious to experience something new in the city.
EMPLOOI; In dienst van de verbeelding invites you to wander, to observe and to let images speak. It is an opportunity to experience Kortrijk through fresh eyes and to discover how imagination can take shape through the lens of a camera.
